Paolo Maldini, social clue on his return … to Istanbul

On the day RedBird made Allegri’s exoneration official and revolutionized Milan’s entire managerial set-up with the farewells of Tare, Moncada and Furlani, a social post by Paolo Maldini is bound to further increase bitterness and disappointment among Rossoneri fans.
The former Milan manager, still lamented by much of the milieu, may soon return to the world of soccer after his time as Milan’s technical director comes to an end. In fact, Maldini posted a photo showing him in Istanbul together with Hakan Safi, a candidate for the presidency of Fenerbahçe in the elections scheduled for the weekend of June 6 and 7.
“Wonderful stay in Istanbul with Hakan Safi,” Maldini wrote on social media. “A great football mind, a passionate leader and, above all, a true friend. We had very interesting confrontations about soccer and I am sure we will continue to share many more moments together in the future.”
According to leaks from Turkey, in case of victory Safi would like to entrust Maldini with a role as market adviser for the yellow and blue club. During the election campaign, the presidential candidate promised the arrival of two top strikers, as well as a goalkeeper and a left-handed central defender, with the aim of bringing Fenerbahçe back to winning the championship after 12 years.
And it is precisely the relationship with Maldini that is allegedly fueling rumors about the Turkish club’s possible interest in Rafa Leao, a name that has been circulating persistently around Fenerbahçe in recent hours.
