Torino, putting a difficult season behind it, is set to start again with a new coach: the confirmation of Roberto D’Aversa is highly unlikely and the coach, who took over in the second half of the year from Marco Baroni, does not seem destined to lead the granata in 2026-2027. And so the club has already started to move to find the ideal profile to return to compete for the left side of the standings.

The name at the top of the list, according to several sources close to the granata environment, is that of Alberto Aquilani, the protagonist of a brilliant season with Catanzaro, led all the way to the Serie B playoff final. The management sees in the former Roma and Liverpool midfielder a young, modern profile capable of enhancing the youngest players, as demonstrated precisely in Calabria by managing to lead to the threshold of the maximum series a group that at the beginning of the year did not figure among the favorites for the race to the A.

On the Roman technician, however, Hellas Verona has also inserted itself decisively, determined to return immediately to Serie A and willing to bet on a coach who has shown he knows how to build game and identity. A competition, reported by the ‘Corriere di Verona’, that Torino will not be able to ignore.

On the table is also the question of the corporate structure. Owner Urbano Cairo is considering the idea of flanking sporting director Gianluca Petrachi with an experienced figure, a sort of super-advisor. The name identified is that of Gian Piero Ventura, who has left important memories in Turin but who divides the square.

A part of the fan base, as reflected in comments on social media to the rumors, fears overlapping and confusion in the chain of command, explaining that the relationship should remain direct between coach and sporting director, with no additional intermediary figures. Others, however, see in Ventura a technical reference capable of giving solidity to the project. Further news on the matter is expected in the coming days.
