When Jannik Sinner plays in Paris: the precedent with Manuel Cerundolo

It will be a real test of endurance in the heat for Jannik Sinner, expected tomorrow in the second round of Roland Garros against Juan Manuel Cerúndolo. After Tuesday night’s winning debut against Frenchman Clément Tabur, beaten in three sets, the Italian will open the program on the Central at 12 p.m. In fact, the heat wave continues in Paris: temperatures up to 33 degrees are expected, with possible thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Three other Italians will also be involved in the men’s tournament. Matteo Berrettini will close the evening program on the Central at 8:15 p.m. against France’s Arthur Rinderknech. At 11 a.m., on the other hand, it will be Flavio Cobolli’s turn, engaged on Court 7 against China’s Wu Yibing. Later will be the turn of Luciano Darderi, who on court 6 will face Argentina’s Francisco Comesaña.
For Sinner, fresh off his debut success in the Paris Slam, the match against Cerúndolo represents the second step on the way to Roland Garros. The Argentinean, currently No. 56 in the ATP rankings, comes to the challenge after eliminating Britain’s Jacob Fearnley in three sets.
Tomorrow’s match will be the second direct confrontation between Sinner and Cerúndolo: the only previous one was in the first round of the Wimbledon Championships, won by the Italian in three sets.
The match will be televised live on Eurosport channels and also available for streaming on HBO Max, Discovery+, DAZN, TimVision and Prime Video Channels.
