Marco Bezzecchi sincere about the'tribute to Alex Zanardi

If in the Sprint Races Marco Bezzecchi has not yet managed to find the ideal feeling, in the long races his approach changes completely and the results speak for themselves: the Mugello victory, fourth in seven GPs, confirms it. The Aprilia standard-bearer, after a third of the championship, is leading the overall standings and the enthusiasm around him is sky-high: in addition, ‘Bez’ was able to dedicate the success to Alex Zanardi, after wearing a special helmet on the track inspired by that of the great champion from Bologna, who passed away recently.
“This is the thing that makes me the happiest – Bezzecchi himself confessed in this regard, at the microphones of Sky Sport – Unfortunately, I have never had the good fortune to meet Alex Zanardi in person, but I have always admired him from afar. His is an incredible story, almost unreal for how powerful it is.”
Hence the idea of wearing the special helmet: “After his passing, I saw the tribute that Formula 1 dedicated to him, and at that moment I said to myself that I should also do something. I am in an important position, I felt it was my duty to convey a message capable of reaching so many people.”
Bezzecchi leads the overall standings with 173 points, ahead of teammate Jorge Martin, who has 156, and Ducati VR46 rider Fabio Di Giannantonio, third at 134. Only one other rider has reached triple digits: he is Pedro Acosta, fourth with 103 points thanks to his sixth place today at the Scarperia e San Piero track.
