Jannik Sinner, Pat Cash dismantles catastrophists

Australian tennis legend Pat Cash in an interview with Supertennis spoke on what is the topic of the moment, Jannik Sinner’s surprising defeat at Roland Garros. The Blue, who was dominating his match with Juan Manuel Cerundolo, suddenly physically broke down when he was just one game away from winning the match.

“Only Jannik knows exactly what happened in Paris, but it seems the heat is giving him some problems. He looked like he was going to win his match against Juan Manuel Cerundolo without any great fuss but something evidently happened at the physical level,” said the former world No. 4.

In any case, Pat Cash has no doubt that Sinner will soon raise his head again, perhaps right at Wimbledon: “We’re still talking about a player who is having an incredible season. I’m sure he will find solutions to these challenges because he is a great player.”

Now anything is possible in Paris: “This is a great opportunity for players like Alexander Zverev or Casper Ruud, but someone else could also win. Roland Garros is a tournament that can lend itself to surprising situations, every now and then the opportunity comes. The current unpredictability makes everything very interesting. Djokovic? He is in a situation where he should play more matches to get to top form in Slams. For Fonseca it was a great opportunity and he took it.”

Sinner is already looking ahead methodically and lucidly. The world No. 1 would be following a precise schedule ahead of Wimbledon, starting next June 29, a tournament he will defend as defending champion. Among the planned steps, there is also talk of a visit to the JMedical in Turin, probably in the middle of next week, to perform a complete check-up and figure out how to prevent a similar situation to the one experienced against Cerundolo from happening again.
