The name of Davide Calabria is circulating again with insistence from a Serie A perspective. After his final farewell to AC Milan and a season in Greece at Panathinaikos, the former Rossoneri captain could return to the Italian league thanks to the interest of Cagliari, which, according to Sky Sport reports, is ready to include him in an equal exchange with Panathinaikos.

The Athenian club, in fact, has requested from the island club another right-back, Gabriele Zappa, but Cagliari has no intention of having its conditions dictated. The Rossoblù club considers Zappa a central player in the technical project, having been in the squad since 2020, and would be willing to discuss his exit only in case of an equal exchange, without the inclusion of additional technical quid pro quo or economic compensation.

A clear position, reflecting the value attributed to the full-back and the desire not to weaken the team without an immediate return of equal level, in view of a season that will see the Rossoblù club still at the starting ribbons of Serie A, for the fourth consecutive season, after the salvation achieved with a fair margin in the year just ended, the first with Fabio Pisacane on the bench.

The negotiations remain in the embryonic stage, but contacts have been initiated: Panathinaikos and Cagliari are in talks and in the coming weeks it will be discovered whether Calabria will return to Serie A and Zappa will take the reverse route in the direction of Athens or whether other factors capable of changing the cards on the table will come into play.
