Roland Garros: Zverev puts Jodar back in his place.

Alexander Zverev routs Rafael Jodar and sends a signal to everyone: he is the big favorite at Roland Garros after the eliminations of Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic and the absence of Carlos Alcaraz. The German tennis player downed Spain’s rising star Rafael Jodar in three sets: the 19-year-old Iberian, author of a resounding qualification to the quarterfinals, paid for his inexperience and after a hard-fought first set succumbed decisively in the presence of the world number three.
Zverev won in three sets with the partials of 7-6, 6-2, 6-3 in less than two and a half hours. The real match was especially there in the first set, when a combative Jodar got off to a strong start, getting a break and flying 5-2 up on the German. However, the experienced world number 3 did not get discouraged, took the measures of his young rival and remounted, taking the challenge all the way to the tie-break, which he won thanks to his greater coolness.
From that moment on, there was no more match: Jodar lost concentration and conviction and became disunited, feeling all the pressure of the moment. Zverev immediately took advantage of this and routed him by netting two consecutive breaks in the second set, which closed 6-1. The German tennis player in the third set after an initial break managed the lead, closing 6-3 in the last partial.
Zverev confirmed his status as favorite and now awaits the winner of the match between Czech Mensik and Brazilian Fonseca: the first Slam of his career is now no longer a mirage.
