Call from Peru for Gianluca Lapadula

Gianluca Lapadula is a true idol in Peru and even more so since he has decided to wear the white jersey with red transversal band of the Bicolor: the bomber’s mother, Blanca Aida Vargas Higinio, is in fact a native of the South American country. Coming back from a not easy experience at Spezia, a team with which he was relegated to Serie C, the former AC Milan, Genoa and Cagliari striker is interested in Pescara, where he would represent a return horse, but he could go to play in Peru: according to some rumors coming from Lima, on his tracks there would be the Club Universitario de Deportes, known as Universitario and more simply U.
On the table is a six-month contract and then we will see: the class of 1990 does not have the slightest intention of hanging up his shoes and dreams of participating in the 2030 World Cup as a 40-year-old, just as another well-known center forward in Italy, Bosnian Edin Dzeko, will soon do.
It should be remembered that the one at Spezia had been for Lapadula his first experience in a Ligurian shirt, arriving in January 2025 after two and a half years at Cagliari. With the Sardinian Rossoblù, the striker had experienced seasons as an absolute protagonist, culminating with promotion to Serie A in the 2022-23 season, when he had scored an impressive 25 total goals between the regular season and playoffs, graduating for the second time in his career as Serie B’s top scorer. An extraordinary performance that had made him one of the most prolific strikers in the cadetteria, with a total haul of 59 goals and 22 assists in 106 league games.
The very Pescara, the team that is now courting him, is the same one with which Lapadula had already written one of the most beautiful pages of his career: it was with the Abruzzesi that the Italo-Peruvian center forward imposed himself to the attention of great Italian soccer, graduating as Serie B’s top scorer with 27 goals and dragging the Abruzzese formation to promotion to Serie A. An emotional bond with the piazza that makes the hypothesis of a return particularly suggestive, although competition from the South American market remains concrete.
