Rafael Leao reloads against Allegri and Milan: Rossoneri fans furious

Rafael Leao returns to attack Massimiliano Allegri and AC Milan in an interview with Sport TV in which he reiterates his desire to leave: “I need new challenges, I have already won two trophies in Italy and I have been there for a while, for my soccer the Premier or La Liga would enhance my talent more. If the Premier opportunity comes I would be very happy.”
The Portuguese national also openly criticized Massimiliano Allegri, explaining his poor performance this season: “I played injured for 4-5 months with pubalgia, in a position that was not mine, the tactical system did not help me. I felt I could make a difference but the way the team played did not allow me to do so. I was playing in a role that was not mine, after a while this becomes wearing.”
Leao’s words on social media have been deemed brazen by many Rossoneri fans, who feel betrayed by the Lusitanian striker who is now packing his bags. Moreover, the statements come at an inopportune time, given the managerial crisis that the Diavolo is going through at the end of a nightmarish season.
In the interview, the Portuguese also retraced a curious market backstory dating back to 2019: before landing at AC Milan, he had been close to Inter. “The Nerazzurri were looking for me, but then Maldini’s call came and I could not refuse,” he recounted. Leao then dwelt on his relationship with Zlatan Ibrahimović a figure often discussed by the Rossoneri fans: “I consider him a good person. He has a strong character and those who are not mentally solid can be influenced by him. He is not one to hand out compliments or pats on the back, even in training. For me, however, he was fundamental: he helped me both on and off the field and taught me to keep my concentration high throughout the match.”
