Milan market, who is Oliver Glasner: negotiations closing for new coach

A.C. Milan turns over a new leaf and enters a new era. According to rumors coming out of the Rossoneri’s clubhouse, Oliver Glasner is getting closer and closer to signing with the Diavolo, and important news could already be coming in the coming hours and days. The Austrian coach is not only in pole position, but he is also being sponsored by Ralf Rangnick, who may soon become the new technical director of the Milanese club.
Glasner has also received the support of Zlatan Ibrahimovic himself and the likely future sporting director Devin Ozek. According to rumors, a summit with American ownership is coming up soon, and a final choice should be made by Tuesday. Glasner seems to have a clear advantage over current U.S. coach Pochettino and former Real Madrid coach Arbeloa.
Glasner is 51 years old, Austrian and has been the coach of Crystal Palace, a London Premier League team, for two and a half years. His soccer, which is very offensive and intense, is based on pressing and vertical, organized play, the opposite philosophy to that of Massimiliano Allegri. The Austrian is the Milan club’s second choice after the no of Andoni Iraola, who will coach Liverpool next season.
The Austrian coach began his career on the bench as assistant coach of Salzburg, then coached Ried and LASK before moving to Germany in 2019, to Wolfsburg. With the Wolves his career definitely took off, achieving a fourth-place finish in the Bundesliga in 2021. Also that same year, he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt, where he stayed for two seasons and won a Europa League in 2022. In February 2024, his Premier League landing at Crystal Palace, with whom he won three trophies: the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League.
