Cagliari, dry 'no' for a market target

Just over two weeks until the official opening of the summer soccer market session, and teams are already working to identify the right reinforcements. Among them, of course, is Cagliari, which will most likely lose Michael Folorunsho: the star player has too high a salary for the red and blue coffers and will return to Napoli.

To replace the rocky 1998-born footballer, Cagliari had set its sights on Vasilije Adžić of Juventus. The talented youngster did not find much space in the season just ended but it will be far from easy for the Sardinians to manage to sign him.

The biggest obstacle is Luciano Spalletti, a great admirer of Adžić. The coach from Certaldo a few months ago spoke this way about the Montenegrin footballer: “There are these qualities that I have not seen yet. This job is a bit like being a miner and some things you donžt find on the surface you have to go and find them. I have played little Adžić but I see a great foot, a great motor and a body because he holds his own. I would like to convey a little more calmness to him in the moments of the game with the ball between his feet.”

Should Juventus finally close for Adžić, Cagliari could make a bid for Inter Milan’s Thomas Berenbruch. The Italian champions believe a lot in the Milanese champion but could sell him on loan to allow him to play more continuously and foster his growth path.
