The young man who died while riding a scooter was a promising soccer player

The sports community is mourning the death of Eros Gagliardi, a young soccer player from Milan who would have turned 19 in August. He lost his life during the night between Thursday and Friday following a scooter accident. Since last January, he had been training with GS Vedano, the club that was set to officially welcome him to its Under-21 squad starting next season.
The tragedy occurred shortly after midnight on Viale dell’Innovazione, in Milan’s Bicocca neighborhood, where the young man lived. At the time of the accident, Eros was on the scooter with a 20-year-old friend.
A huge soccer fan since childhood, he had begun his athletic career alongside his father, Rudy. A die-hard Milan fan, he developed his soccer skills at Lombardia Uno before playing for various local teams, including Triestina Milano, Viscontini, Afforese, and Caronnese. He later continued his development in the youth teams of Solese Bollate and Bresso, playing in the Under-19 Juniores leagues.
At just 14 years old, he had to face a difficult personal battle. During the pandemic, he was diagnosed with myocarditis resulting from COVID-19, a condition that forced him to temporarily suspend his competitive activities. Thanks to the care he received at the Buzzi and San Raffaele hospitals in Milan, however, he managed to overcome the problem and regain his athletic eligibility, thus returning to pursue his great passion for soccer.
