Italvolley, like Jannik Sinner, the Azzurri are ranked No. 1 in the world

The Italian men’s national team has claimed first place in the world rankings, climbing to the top with 378.30 points and overtaking Poland, which had been the leader since 2022 and is now in second place with 374.82 points. The overtaking occurred during the Volleyball Nations League, thanks to the most recent results achieved by both teams in the competition.
Poland’s reign at the top is thus ended by the national team led by head coach Ferdinando De Giorgi, the driving force behind a journey of growth and success that has brought Italy back to the pinnacle of international volleyball. The winning streak began in 2021 with the victory at the European Championships, followed in 2022 by the world title. Confirmation came in 2025 with another world title in the Philippines. Added to these results are the silver medal at the 2023 European Championships held in Italy and second place in last year’s Volleyball Nations League, the Azzurri’s first podium finish in the event.
At this moment, the Italian Volleyball Federation can celebrate a historic double achievement: both the men’s and women’s national teams lead the FIVB rankings. The Italian women’s team, in fact, has been in the lead since 2024 with 478.58 points, ahead of Brazil (436.91) and Poland (353.25).
This result confirms the excellence of Italian volleyball, which is playing an increasingly prominent role on the world stage. The national teams’ successes enhance the visibility and value of the entire system, which includes athletes, coaches, managers, and clubs working tirelessly across the country.
