Charles Leclerc leaves the Barcelona Grand Prix deeply disappointed after scoring zero points for the second race in a row, following his result in Monte Carlo. The Ferrari driver is now fourth in the World Championship, stuck on 75 points, a full 81 points behind the leader Kimi Antonelli, who leads the standings with 156 points. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton is flying high and continues to make up ground, climbing to 115 points thanks to his victory in Spain. Another factor complicating Leclerc’s situation, even though the Monegasque remains convinced that Ferrari’s potential is very high.

What may console him is that, this time, the retirement was not caused by a mistake on his part. After a strong comeback during the race, in fact, his Ferrari came to a halt due to a technical issue that Ferrari’s engineers are trying to diagnose, as Leclerc himself mentioned on the sidelines of the Catalan weekend. Despite his second consecutive zero-point finish, the Ferrari driver stated in the mixed zone: “I know the package we have is good, and I have confidence in the car.”

Charles then spoke about the difficult period he is going through, also recalling the problems he faced in his home race: “After Monaco, my confidence was very low, and I wasn’t in sync with the car,” he admitted. However, in his view, the situation has improved in recent weeks: “That’s no longer the case now, but I’m certainly not yet at the level I want to be. I need to find more performance.”

Despite everything, Leclerc looks to the future with optimism and believes results may come soon: “I need to sort these things out and keep working,” he explained. The Ferrari driver also praised his teammate Lewis Hamilton’s success: “We have to be very proud of what the team has done, and I’m very happy for Lewis.” Finally, he reiterated his confidence in the future: “I have confidence in the car and hope to get good results in the upcoming races.”
