A major coup for Pietro Colnago: Max Ferraiuolo joins the team

Massimo “Max” Ferraiuolo, a former coach with experience in Varese, Pavia, and other basketball organizations, has announced his candidacy for the position of council member of the Lombardy Basketball Federation (FIP Lombardia) ahead of the federal elections scheduled for September. The regional committee is currently led by Commissioner Andrea Sina, who was appointed after the resignation of most of the previous board, which led to the removal of the elected president, Giuseppe Rizzi, a native of Saronno.
The current team manager of Pallacanestro Varese will be part of the team supporting Pietro Colnago’s candidacy for president. However, this candidacy will not mean he is leaving the red-and-white colors: Ferraiuolo in fact discussed and agreed on this decision with the club before making it official.
The race for the presidency of FIP Lombardia pits two candidates against each other—Pietro Colnago and Enrico Ragnolini—who are vying for the support of the clubs ahead of the upcoming elections.
The contest promises to be particularly interesting because it pits two different visions for the future of Lombardy’s basketball movement against one another—one of the most important and extensive communities in the entire national landscape. At the heart of the debate are issues crucial to the future of Lombardy basketball: support for grassroots clubs, the growth of the youth sector, the training of coaches and managers, the organization of regional leagues, and the relationship between the federation and the local community.
Colnago has been one of Sky’s leading basketball journalists for years; Ragnolini, a former president of the Lombardy Regional Committee, was expelled from the FIP in 2014.
