Daniel Maldini’s future is still up in the air. The young player, following in his father’s footsteps, is returning to Bergamo after a six-month loan stint with Lazio, but he may not remain with Atalanta next season. At the start of training camp, the 2001-born player will meet with Maurizio Sarri: this face-to-face meeting will be crucial in understanding both of their intentions.

Maldini wants to play more regularly, and his agents have reportedly already been in contact with other Serie A clubs that could offer him more playing time than Atalanta. According to rumors, the two clubs currently most interested are Parma and Sassuolo.

The Gialloblu are looking for reinforcements up front, and Carlos Cuesta would welcome Maldini’s arrival. Sassuolo’s new coach, Alberto Aquilani, is also said to be in favor of the player joining the Neroverdi.

According to rumors reported by Sportmediaset, the deal could be structured as a loan with an obligation to buy under certain conditions. Much will depend on the tactical plans of Maurizio Sarri, who has previously coached Maldini and may decide to keep the player on the roster.
