Concerns for Peter Runggaldier, the former skier who was injured and hospitalized following an accident

The motorcyclist who was seriously injured in the violent accident that occurred late this morning, June 23, along the Pordoi Pass road is Peter Runggaldier, a former member of the Italian national alpine skiing team and a leading figure on the World Cup circuit in the 1990s. This was reported by *L’Adige*.

According to the local newspaper, the former South Tyrolean athlete, born in Bressanone on December 29, 1968, was involved in a collision between the motorcycle he was riding and a bicycle along the road leading to the famous Dolomite pass. A woman in her 30s who was riding the bicycle was also seriously injured in the crash.

According to initial reports, the cyclist suffered the most serious injuries from the accident. Rescued by medical personnel, she was transported by helicopter to the hospital in Bolzano. Runggaldier also sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento to receive the necessary treatment.

The Canazei Volunteer Fire Department, the helicopter rescue team, the Carabinieri from the Cavalese Company, and the Moena local police responded to the scene. Law enforcement is currently conducting an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
