Following his impressive—albeit hard-fought—first-round victory over Miomir Kecmanovic, Jannik Sinner’s run in the 2026 Wimbledon tournament continues on Wednesday, July 1, with another match that should not be underestimated: his clash against Portugal’s Nuno Borges. The two have faced each other four times before, with the Italian winning all four matches, but Borges is currently in decent form and will certainly put up a strong fight.

The match time for Sinner vs. Borges was set by the organizers just before the match: the two will open the Central Court schedule at 2:30 p.m. local time (3:30 p.m. Italian time), with live TV coverage on Sky Sport channels and streaming on NOW and Sky Go. Following that, the same court will host the women’s main draw match between Barbora Krejcikova and Mirra Andreeva, as well as another highly anticipated men’s main draw match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Novak Djokovic.

As for their only previous meeting, you have to go back to 2022: in the second round of the tournament in Sofia, played on hard court, the South Tyrolean won comfortably 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and twenty-six minutes of play. However, that match took place too long ago (and was played on a different surface) to draw any precise tactical conclusions from it.

In the first round, Sinner defeated Kecmanovic, who is ranked two spots behind Borges (50th vs. 48th) 4-6, 6-3, 6(6)-7, 6-2, 6-3, pulling away in the final set after three hard-fought sets, while the Portuguese player defeated American Tristan Boyer, ranked 191st in the world, 6-3, 7-5, 7-5, finishing the match in two hours and six minutes.
