Flavio Cobolli advanced to the second round of the Wimbledon tournament thanks to a four-set victory over Argentina’s Mariano Navone. The match, which was suspended at the start of the fourth set on Tuesday evening, concluded early Wednesday afternoon after the Italian’s hard-fought victory.

Cobolli prevailed with set scores of 1-6, 7-6, 6-3, 7-6 in a match lasting nearly 3½ hours, winning 10-8 in Wednesday’s decisive tiebreak. The Roman tennis player managed to save three set points in the twelfth game, forcing the set into a tiebreak and ultimately winning it after a long battle.

His next opponent will be Australian James Duckworth, who defeated Dutch player Tallon Griekspoor in his debut.

Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori also made winning debuts at Wimbledon. The Italian duo defeated the British pair (and wild cards) Jones and Paris in two sets, 6-4, 6-3.
