Davide Pessina: “With ADV, Varese can be great again”

Sportal.it conducted an exclusive interview with Davide Pessina on the sidelines of the event in Milan where the exciting lineups for the new season on Sky and Now were presented; Pessina, a native of the Aosta Valley, serves as a technical commentator—obviously for basketball.

Serie A nearly lost Amedeo Della Valle, who ultimately chose Varese… “It’s very important that he stayed in Italy, because he’s always performed very well, and we’ll enjoy watching him. It’s also important for Varese to return to the top now that it has secured significant funding. It’s a club with a rich history that can compete at the highest levels again; it will do so with an extra ace up its sleeve, and that’s definitely good news.”

We’re in for a very unique season… “I believe we’re on the cusp of an epoch-making revolution, and it seems to me that all these moves are being made in anticipation of what’s to come. We’ll have to wait and see—I’m very curious. To be honest, I don’t really have a clear idea of what might happen, or how it will unfold.”

A Serie A that’s about to change its face… “Clearly, the imminent arrival of NBA Europe has already led to a major upheaval in Italy, given that two historic teams, Brescia and Cremona, will no longer be in Serie A to make room for the two new Roman teams. We mustn’t forget the fans who have been left without top-level basketball: that’s not a good thing.”
