Virtus Bologna: A Hurdle for Trent Frazier

Confirmation has come from Bologna regarding the ongoing negotiations to sign Trent Frazier. Virtus is looking for specific players to round out its roster and has set its sights on the American point guard, who has played for Zenit St. Petersburg for the past three seasons.

Born in 1998, Frazier developed his basketball skills with the Illinois Fighting Illini before moving to Europe in 2022 to play for FMP Belgrade in Serbia. Last season in the VTB League, he averaged 13.8 points and 5.8 assists per game. The main obstacle to the player’s arrival is stiff competition from Valencia, which is also in contact with the American’s agents. This is according to reports in the Spanish media.

Virtus is, in any case, very confident about signing him. In Russia, Frazier won a national cup in 2024 and a Super Cup in 2023, both while playing for Zenit.

The need to make a move in the point guard market has been made even more urgent by the departure of Alessandro Pajola. The Italian point guard, who came up through the V Nere youth system and has been a club icon for years, is now on the verge of joining Partizan Belgrade: according to the Corriere di Bologna, the transfer is expected to proceed without any major obstacles.
