Chelsea Madness: Morgan Rogers Becomes the Most Expensive English Player Ever

The Premier League continues to demonstrate financial resources that defy all logic. Chelsea has just pulled off a transfer coup involving astronomical figures—at least when compared to deals involving Serie A clubs.
The Blues spent 137 million euros on Morgan Rogers. The English forward, who comes from Aston Villa, has signed a contract through 2033. With this transfer, Xabi Alonso’s team has set a new transfer spending record, following the signing of Enzo Fernández during the 2023 winter transfer window (121 million euros).
Morgan Rogers has also become the most expensive British player of all time, surpassing the 135 million euros paid by Manchester City for Elliot Anderson last summer.
“I’m very excited. For me, Chelsea is the biggest club in London and one I’ve always admired since I was a kid. I’m a free-spirited player with a free-flowing style of play. I like to take risks, create chances, change the course of games, and do whatever it takes. I can’t wait to get started,” were his first words as a Blues player.
