Kieron Bowie is too expensive; Cagliari is looking among free agents

Leonardo Pavoletti’s retirement, Semih Kılıçsoy’s return to Turkey, and serious doubts surrounding Andrea Belotti are forcing Cagliari to take action to shore up its offense. Tommaso Giulini has been working on this for some time, and Fabio Pisacane has asked him to speed things up.

In recent days, the Sardinian club made an offer for Hellas Verona’s Kieron Bowie, but Sassuolo is in the lead, and Verona’s asking price is beyond Cagliari’s budget; for this reason, Giulini has shifted his focus.

According to French sources, the Sardinian club has set its sights on Bamba Dieng, a center forward born in 2000 who is a free agent following his stint at Lorient. The striker is in high demand from numerous teams (in Italy, he’s also on the radar of Ignazio Abate’s Torino), but so far only Amed SK has submitted a formal offer. Talks between Dieng and the Turkish club are ongoing: if Cagliari intends to make a move, it must act quickly.

As for outgoing transfers, Cagliari can breathe a sigh of relief regarding Elia Caprile, who has been at the center of various transfer rumors in recent months. The former Napoli player has been linked primarily with Juventus and Aston Villa, but now the waters seem to have calmed down.

Luciano Spalletti appears to be leaning more toward Guglielmo Vicario and Noah Atubolu, while the Villains have decided to stick with Dibu Martinez following the Argentine goalkeeper’s outstanding World Cup performance.
