Zdeněk Chovanec has died. The young driver was just 21 years old.

Terrible news has shaken the motorsports world: Zdeněk Chovanec, a talented driver just 21 years old, has died. The cause of death has not been disclosed. Here is the statement published by the FIA on Facebook: “The FIA is deeply saddened by the passing of Zdeněk Chovanec, who competed in the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2021–2022. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Zdeněk’s family and friends.”

The champion was a Czech-Venezuelan driver born in 2004 who began his racing career in karting in Portugal. After his early experiences in open-wheel racing, he made his single-seater debut in 2020.

His first steps into professional racing were in Formula 4 championships, where he competed in Formula 4 UAE with the Xcel Motorsport team before moving on to the Italian Formula 4 Championship with the Bhaitech team. The following year, he expanded his international experience by racing in the F3 Asian Championship with BlackArts Racing and in the Euroformula Open behind the wheel of cars managed by Double R Racing.

The most significant moment of his career came between 2021 and 2022, when he made his debut in the FIA Formula 3 Championship racing for the Czech team Charouz Racing System,

In 2022, Zdeněk competed in several rounds of the BOSS GP Series with the MM International Motorsport team, while in 2023 he competed in the LMP3 class of the Ultimate Cup Series with the Italian team TS Corse.
