2026-2027 Preseason Friendlies: Celtic vs. Milan, Probable Lineups

The new Milan squad under Ruben Amorim kicks off the season with a trip to Scotland to face Celtic at 4:00 p.m. Italian time on Saturday. The team will be without the players who competed in the 2026 World Cup (the first to return, on July 29, will be Gimenez, Pulisic, new signing Gonçalo Ramos, and Rafael Leão; De Winter, Jashari, Saelemaekers, Maignan, and Rabiot will return between August 2 and 12), the Rossoneri are still aiming to put in a strong performance, showcasing several young players from the academy.
Milan will face a Celtic side coming off a challenging season, which ended with a league-and-cup “double” but not without its difficulties: the decisive move to the top of the Scottish league table came only on the final matchday, in a head-to-head clash against Hearts. The Green and Whites have welcomed back several players who participated in the World Cup (such as Alistair Johnston, Kieran Tierney, and Benjamin Nygren), but their coach, Martin O’Neill, is also expected to opt for an experimental lineup.
As for the Rossoneri’s starting lineup, with Maignan out, Torriani will take his place in goal, while in defense, Mario Gila—newly arrived from Lazio—is highly anticipated to make his debut. On the wings, Chukwueze and Musah—back from their loan spells at Fulham and Atalanta—will start, while in midfield will be the young Comotto, who has just renewed his contract with the club though he is expected to go out on loan elsewhere for the upcoming season. Up front, with the “big names” absent, Andrej Kostic—born in 2007, joining from Partizan and destined for Milan Futuro—will get his chance.
Probable Lineups
CELTIC (4-3-3): Sinisalo; Donovan, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Murray; McGregor, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Engels; Forrest, McCowan, Duran. Head Coach: O’Neill.
MILAN (3-4-2-1): Torriani; Gila, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Chukwueze, Comotto, Musah, Bartesaghi; Ossola, Guernier; Kostic. Head Coach: Amorim.
