After the 4-1 result in the first leg in Denmark, it would take an incredible series of twists and turns for Lech Poznan to fail to advance to the third and final qualifying round of the 2026-2027 Champions League, which will award one of the final spots among the 36 teams in the League Phase. Standing in their way is AGF Aarhus, which—without pulling off a comeback—would “be relegated” to the Europa League qualifiers.

In Denmark, the Poles took the lead in the 29th minute thanks to a goal by Mikael Ishak (a one-season wonder for Crotone in 2013–2014), and then played with a man advantage after Jesper Hansen was sent off in the 37th minute. In the 42nd minute, Patrik Walemark doubled the lead; Kristian Arnstad pulled one back in the 55th minute, but Lech then pulled away shortly after the half-hour mark, with goals from Terry Yegbe in the 61st minute and another from Walemark four minutes later.

The second leg will be played at the Enea Stadion in Poznan on Wednesday, July 29, at 7:00 p.m., with Albanian referee Juxhin Xhaja officiating. Lech has already kicked off its league campaign, drawing 0-0 with Kraków on the first matchday following a 3-1 victory over Górnik Zabrze in the Polish Super Cup. Aarhus also played a match at home: a 1-1 draw against Brøndby, with Arnstad scoring the equalizer on a penalty kick in stoppage time.
