Franco Baresi Has Died: Inter and Juventus Pay Tribute to the Milan Legend

Franco Baresi has died, and even his rivals are paying tribute to the Milan legend, who passed away after an illness. Inter honored him with a message on its social media accounts, recalling the many battles in the Milan derbies.
“Farewell to Franco Baresi, a star of the great Milan derbies and one of the figures who most defined the history of this rivalry. As captain, team player, and icon of AC Milan, he approached every match against Inter with a spirit of both competition and respect, in a rivalry that has written unforgettable chapters in Italian soccer history. President Giuseppe Marotta and the entire FC Internazionale Milano organization stand in solidarity with the Baresi family, his brother Beppe, and AC Milan during this time of grief.”
Inter Vice President Javier Zanetti dedicated a post to him: “Icon, Captain, Legend: 6 forever! Rest in peace, Franco,” read the caption accompanying a photo of him with the former Rossoneri defender.
“There are people who, through their talent, make history,” reads the statement from Juventus. “And others who, through their humanity, remain in it forever. Franco Baresi was both. Class, style, leadership, and respect on and off the field. A role model for generations of players and fans, loved and respected by all soccer enthusiasts. His memory will live on forever. Juventus Football Club stands with the Baresi family and @acmilan during this time of profound grief.”
