There have been countless messages of condolence for Franco Baresi, including one from the Curva Sud

The passing, at just 66 years old, of Rossoneri legend Franco Baresi is a heavy blow to every soccer fan. Countless messages of condolence have poured in for one of the greatest players in history, a role model for us all.
In addition to Milan’s official statement, countless messages of condolence are pouring in following the captain’s passing. The Curva Sud, which has always been deeply connected to the Rossoneri legend, posted a story on Instagram featuring iconic photos of the captain, accompanied by the caption: “An inimitable Rossoneri icon. 6 forever, captain.”
“The Serie A League expresses its condolences on the passing of Franco Baresi and stands with his family during this sad time,” reads the message from the Serie A League. When you think of a defender, you think of him. A legend for Milan and the national team. A quiet champion, never over the top, a hero of a generation. Farewell, Franco Baresi,” read the AIC’s post.
“You were an example for us ‘peers’ and a role model for the young players who gradually came up through the ranks, regardless of position. Your story should be told in soccer schools, with videos on loop that show who you are and what you’ll always be… for me, it’s like the end of an era… unassuming, reserved, attentive, charismatic… with that latent and quiet charm that only we knew in the locker room,” reads part of the beautiful message from former teammate Pietro Paolo Virdis. The message from Gerry Cardinale, current owner of Milan, is also touching: “Today, the Rossoneri family mourns the passing of the great Franco Baresi. For generations, Franco embodied the values, character, and excellence that define this Club. Even in the past year, as he faced his greatest challenge, he always stood by Milan, quietly reminding us what it means to represent these colors. Franco’s legacy is profound and will last forever. Our thoughts go out to his family and to all those whose lives he touched.”
