Rome Transfer Market: New and Final Offer for the Dutch Star

During this transfer window, Roma has already spent over 80 million euros: 35 for Castro from Bologna, 25 to buy out Donyell Malen’s contract, 16.5 for Konstantinos Koulierakis from Wolfsburg, and 8 for Daniele Ghilardi from Hellas Verona.

Gian Piero Gasperini, however, is not yet satisfied and has asked the Friedkins for a new right back following the surprise departure of Zeki Celik, who moved to Juventus on a free transfer. The name on everyone’s lips is Givairo Read, a Dutch talent currently with Feyenoord.

Roma has been monitoring the player for some time, but the first two offers were rejected by the Dutch club. Now the Rome-based club has decided to make one final push: 25 million euros plus 3 million in bonuses tied to individual and team performance. Roma’s executives have been clear with Feyenoord: this will be their final offer.

The Dutch club has taken some time to consider the offer but, above all, to wait for a possible counteroffer from Nottingham Forest, another club very interested in signing Read. The English club has been informed of Roma’s offer but has not yet decided whether to try to outbid Roma or back out.

It’s likely that after signing the fullback, Roma will make further moves in the transfer market, and this theory is supported by Gasperini’s recent statements: “I’ve asked for a defender, a winger, and two forwards. When you play in the Champions League at this level, you need a complete, competitive roster with enough players to rotate without sacrificing the quality of the bench.”
