Inter Transfer Market: Dario Baccin Starts with an Important First Goal

Dario Baccin, fresh off his appointment as Inter’s sporting director following Piero Ausilio’s very long tenure in the role, is already grappling with his first major goal: ensuring Federico Dimarco remains on the roster for the coming years, following a contract renewal. This is a top priority for Inter, a topic that has returned to the forefront after Dimarco was named last season’s best player by the AIC, confirming the Serie A MVP title he had already earned at the end of the 2025–2026 season.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Gran Galà del Calcio, Dimarco once again reaffirmed his loyalty to the Nerazzurri, but his words also revealed a hint of regret that the contract renewal has not yet been discussed with management. His contract expires in 2027, but Inter can unilaterally extend it through 2028 under the same terms.

As reported by ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport,’ however, the player’s representatives would like an extension through 2030 with a substantial pay raise following a season in which he recorded 7 goals and 17 assists—impressive numbers for a winger who also contributes defensively. Negotiations, however, are expected to move forward soon. Baccin considers Dimarco’s renewal a crucial step, and the player has already turned down interest from Barcelona—a further sign of his desire to stay in Milan.

The parties are expected to begin talks shortly: Dimarco’s future with the Nerazzurri seems all but certain, but a decisive step is still needed to turn his loyalty into a long-term, structured agreement, to continue a relationship that began when he was 7 years old and has continued to this day, with a few loan stints and a brief spell at Sion in 2017–2018, after which Inter exercised its buyback option from the Swiss club.
