Former Virtus Bologna player Toko Shengelia has found a new team

After just one year with Barcelona—and despite having a guaranteed contract with the Blaugrana through the 2026–27 season—Toko Shengelia has packed his bags.
Linked to many clubs, the former Virtus Bologna star ultimately accepted a substantial offer from Dubai Basketball (the signing is official, as reported by the club).
At 34 years old and still in top physical condition, he will play for a team with significant potential and, above all, continue his EuroLeague career. Interestingly, his debut in Europe’s top club competition—the 2026–27 season—will come against Real Madrid on September 24.
For the Georgian, this marks the seventh European team of his career. He began his career with Valencia back in 2008, when he was just 17 years old. During his two seasons with the “Black V’s,” he won one league title (2024–25, as MVP), two Italian Super Cups, and one EuroCup.
