Trieste: Two New Assistants for Coach Francesco Taccetti

Pallacanestro Trieste officially kicks off a new phase of its coaching staff by announcing the arrival of Matteo Cassinerio and Tommaso Della Rosa, who will join head coach Francesco Taccetti as assistant coaches. Cassinerio comes off several seasons with Virtus Bologna, Real Madrid, and the Spanish national team, while Della Rosa joins the team following the termination of his contract with Pistoia, having built his career step by step from the youth ranks all the way to the first team.

“The departures of Franz Nanni and Nick Schlitzer presented a unique challenge for our organization,” explained Trieste’s general manager, Michael Arcieri, to the club’s official channels. “I want to thank Coach Taccetti for conducting an impeccable search process that yielded numerous highly qualified candidates; he left no stone unturned and led to the creation of an elite coaching staff. The combination of their diverse experiences is invaluable; we are extremely excited.”

Coach Taccetti echoed this sentiment: “Thanks to their previous experiences, both Matteo and Tommaso will be able to bring significant added value to the daily individual work focused on the players’ development and growth. Having had the opportunity to choose them from among so many outstanding candidates makes me truly grateful to be able to count on two people who will certainly be appreciated for their technical and personal qualities, both on and off the court. I’m sure everyone will soon recognize their value.”

Pallacanestro Trieste is in its third consecutive season in Serie A, its eighth in the last nine years. In 2025–2026, the red-and-white team finished in seventh place, advancing to the Scudetto playoffs where they reached Game 5 of the quarterfinals, coming close to pulling off an upset against Germani Brescia, the second-ranked team in the most recent regular season.
