Cagliari Transfer Market: A Top Club Pulls Out of the Race for Sebastiano Esposito

There is a lot of turmoil at Cagliari over the situation involving Sebastiano Esposito. After the forward failed to show up for the resumption of training—citing a medical certificate—tensions have flared between the Sardinian club and the young star’s agent.

Cagliari’s general manager, Stefano Melis, used very harsh words to describe the contract renewal negotiations with Esposito, prompting an equally harsh response from the player’s agent, Mario Giuffredi. The rift now appears irreparable, and the only way out is a transfer.

In recent days, there has been talk of interest from Napoli, which is seeking new options to reshape its offense, but according to the latest rumors, it appears the Neapolitan club has decided not to pursue negotiations with Cagliari and to focus on other players instead.

For Sebastiano Esposito, the Como option remains on the table—the club has just in the past few hours requested information from Giulini—as does the possibility of a move to Lazio. It’s hard to imagine Esposito at Hull City next season, however: the English club made an inquiry but apparently decided not to pursue the deal.

So far, the Rossoblù have signed Romano from Roma, Akarakiri from Everton’s U18 team, Fazzini from Fiorentina, Winks from Leicester, and Kofler from Sudtirol.
