Frosinone Transfer Market: The Top Free Agent Is Ready to Don the Giallazzurri Jersey

Frosinone is looking to make a major signing for its midfield: Florian Grillitsch is officially on their radar. According to Sportmediaset, the Giallazzurri have initiated talks with the Austrian midfielder, who is coming off a stint at Braga and is now a free agent, with several offers on the table from across Europe. The club is working on a one-year contract with an option tied to the team’s survival in the league—a deal that could convince the player to choose the “Benito Stirpe” stadium as his new home.

A central midfielder by trade, capable of adapting to the role of center back as well, Grillitsch came up through the ranks at Pottschach and St. Pölten, breaking out in Germany with Werder Bremen, where he made his Bundesliga debut in 2015. In 2017, he transferred to Hoffenheim, where he has remained through 2025 with only two exceptions: the 2022–2023 season spent at Ajax and the second half of the 2024–2025 season spent with Valladolid. Finally, his stint at Braga: initially, the contract was for two years, but the parties parted ways by mutual agreement in June 2026.

Negotiations are underway, and Frosinone wants to speed things up. The idea of bringing a top-tier free agent like Grillitsch—who also played for Austria at the 2026 World Cup—to the Giallazzurri sends a strong signal: the club is aiming for an immediate reinforcement, capable of making an impact right away and leading the attack with personality.

The upcoming season will be Frosinone’s fourth ever in Serie A: the goal is to avoid a repeat of what happened in their three previous stints, when the Giallazzurri failed to avoid relegation, finishing 19th in 2015–2016 and 2018–2019, and 18th in 2023–2024.
