Inter Transfer Market: An Old Target Is Back in the Running to Replace Dumfries

There has been no shortage of twists and turns on this front. The fact is that Inter has yet to find a replacement for Denzel Dumfries on the right flank. The situation isn’t causing alarm at Inter, but management is working to provide Chivu with reinforcements in what is currently the area of the team most in need of attention.

One of the names they continue to monitor is Moussa Diaby, who was already on Inter’s radar in January and has remained on the club’s radar. The Frenchman would bring speed, technical skill, and above all, remarkable versatility—a trait that would also offer Chivu new tactical options. Signing the player, however, is no easy task, partly because Al-Ittihad is asking for a fee close to 40 million euros to let him go.

What makes the negotiations even more complex is, above all, Diaby’s salary. The player earns approximately 15 million euros per season plus bonuses—terms that are far beyond Inter’s financial parameters. Furthermore, the Saudi club does not seem willing to cover part of his salary.

The difficulties encountered with Diaby have thus brought Djed Spence back into the picture. The Tottenham fullback had already been considered by Inter, and his excellent performances at the World Cup had further convinced Chivu of his qualities. However, it was precisely that performance that had driven up his valuation and initially prompted the Nerazzurri to slow down their pursuit. Now the situation may have changed: Tottenham is reportedly willing to consider total offers in the range of 35 million euros, opening the door for a possible return of Inter’s interest in the player.
