Ducati on Rumors About Marc Marquez: “The Situation Is Worse Than He Says”

Marc Marquez’s struggles at Silverstone left everyone stunned. The Ducati rider, the reigning world champion, struggled throughout the race weekend—partly because his bike couldn’t keep up with the Aprilia machines, but mainly due to his physical condition, which remains precarious following surgery on his right shoulder.

Rider number 93 admitted that his arm functions differently after yet another shoulder surgery, and explained that he has not yet fully recovered muscle strength, even after the summer break. This new situation has forced the Catalan star to adapt, and in Great Britain he could not do better than a disappointing seventh-place finish.

According to rumors from one of the journalists at The Race website, the situation may actually be worse than expected. “He’s going through a tough time; we know he regularly lies to us about his physical condition,” said Simon Patterson. “He tells us he’s in shape even when he isn’t, and he never attributes his performance to his physical condition. “This weekend I spoke with several people close to him, and they gave me the impression that things aren’t going well: he’s still dealing with several shoulder issues,”

Marquez is now 40 points behind World Championship leader Jorge Martin. After the race at Silverstone, he explained that he had already “flagged” the circuit at the start of the year because he knew it would be very difficult for him to shine, but he also said that he would be much stronger at Aragon, ready to attack. The race at the end of the month will be a very important test for him.

While Marquez disappointed, the British weekend was downright catastrophic for his teammate Pecco Bagnaia. The two-time world champion, who had won at this track in 2022, never found the right rhythm all weekend, finishing 17th in the Sprint and crashing out of Sunday’s race while in 15th place. Bagnaia made no secret of his frustration: “I don’t care about the crash; the problem is the difficulties I faced all weekend. I never had any speed.
