Olimpia Milano is holding a team meeting: there’s a player under contract who isn’t needed by Coach Poeta

The countdown has begun. The new Armani Olimpia Milano team is set to report for training on August 17. There are many new faces compared to last season. A brand-new roster aims to repeat last year’s strong results and, if possible, make a deep run in the EuroLeague.

The first practice is scheduled for August 19, exactly one month before the official season opener in the Italian Super Cup against Virtus Bologna. Coach Poeta has all the players he needs at his disposal; in fact, on paper, he has one extra player who is definitely not part of the plan, namely Lorenzo Brown.

The American point guard, born in 1990, is still under contract with the Milan club (through the 2026–27 season). Having been sidelined from the red-and-white team’s plans as early as last season (he hasn’t played a game for Armani Olimpia Milano since January 22), the former Panathinaikos player is training on his own in the United States, specifically in Atlanta. In fact, he is waiting to see what his future holds. He recently made it known that he has no intention of retiring; on the contrary, he is convinced he still has a lot to offer.

The Armani Olimpia Milano organization is working to reach an agreement that would lead to a mutual termination of a rather substantial contract. We’re talking about a salary exceeding one million euros. The problem is that the days are passing, and—at least for now—nothing concrete has been reached. With just a few hours to go before the start of the new season and the team’s training camp, Armani Olimpia Milano still has on its roster a player who is absolutely not part of the 2026–27 plans.
