Udinese Transfer Market: Juventus, Watch Out! Daniele Rugani Could Go Elsewhere (Still in Serie A)
For Daniele Rugani, who is not part of Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti’s plans, there has been interest from Monza, Sassuolo, and, in particular, Udinese. However, since Friday night, Udinese has known that the Lombardy-based club is serious about signing him. In fact, the statement by the Biancorossi’s coach, Ivan Juric, is interesting; though he didn’t name names, he dropped a hint at the end of the Coppa Italia match they won handily against Avellino. “We still have a lot to do in the transfer market; we’ve chosen to focus on youth, with players who have potential but still need to develop. But maybe we’ll also bring in someone more experienced…”: Monza’s push shouldn’t catch the Friuli-based Bianconeri off guard, while the Emilia-based Neroverdi don’t seem to be in such a hurry.
The need for an experienced defensive reinforcement for Monza has become even more urgent in recent hours, and not just for technical reasons. The Brianza-based club must, in fact, deal with a midfield emergency that risks affecting the entire first half of the season: Matteo Pessina has suffered a dislocated patella in his right knee and has opted to undergo surgery. Recovery will take a long time, with a return to the field possible, at best, toward the end of October, but more realistically expected between November and December. The loss of the captain is forcing Juric to revise his plans and take decisive action in the transfer market on multiple fronts.
It is no coincidence, therefore, that the Croatian coach also wants to speed up the Rugani deal. The Juventus defender, born in 1994, knows Serie A well and would provide the solidity and experience that the Brianza-based team’s defense appears to need. After all, the Tuscan center back’s marginal role in Juventus’ plans had already become clear during the winter transfer window, when Juventus sent him on loan to Fiorentina. Even there, however, Rugani saw little playing time, returning to Continassa without managing to break into Spalletti’s starting lineup.
His position on the fringes of the Juventus squad was further confirmed by the summer friendly against Chelsea in Hong Kong, where Rugani entered the game only in the closing minutes, with the result already decided, sharing the final minutes with Arthur and Durmisi: unequivocal signs that the Tuscan coach does not consider him a key part of the team’s plans. Juventus, which has him under contract through 2028, is therefore willing to let him go, with a loan deal appearing to be the most likely option.
