2026-2027 Coppa Italia: Genoa vs. Ascoli, Probable Lineups
Daniele De Rossi’s Genoa kicks off the season at Marassi: The Grifone will face Ascoli at 6:30 p.m. in the second round of the 2026-2027 Coppa Italia. The Rossoblù, who lost to Deportivo and Bournemouth in their most recent friendlies, are taking stock of their preparations one week before the league season kicks off. The same goes for the visitors, who defeated Potenza 3-1 in the first round of the Coppa Italia. The winner will face Sudtirol in the round of 32.
Genoa features Vitinha and Colombo as key offensive players. In midfield, Amorim is the playmaker with Frendrup and Baldanzi on either side of him, while the wings are manned by Norton-Cuffy (despite transfer rumors) and Ellertsson. In defense: Marcandalli, Otoa, and Vasquez. Ostigard will come on as the game progresses.
Tomei lines up his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Gori as the center forward and Silipo, Perciun, and D’Uffizi in the attacking midfield trio. The two central midfielders will be Corradini and Damiani, while Milanese and Guiebre will play on the wings.

De Rossi wants everyone to stay focused: “On paper, Ascoli is a weaker team than us, but they’re extremely tough to handle: they know how to play and can make you look bad if you’re not ready. We need to prepare well and advance to the next round. It’s the only trophy I won as a player; in Rome, we celebrated it as if it were the Champions League. We can’t take the field as if it were a friendly match.”
“I expect to see an improvement. An increase in the quality of our play. At this stage of the season, leg fatigue also comes into play, though, as I always say, the other teams are tired too. We have to try to minimize mistakes and turnovers.”
