In a statement, Monza announced that Andrea Petagna has transferred to Pisa on a permanent basis. Since his arrival in Brianza in the summer of 2022, the forward has made 79 appearances and scored 14 goals for the Biancorossi, helping to bring them back to Serie A with a fantastic season.

“We send Andrea our warmest best wishes for his new adventure!” reads Monza’s statement. In Tuscany, Petagna will be reunited with Paolo Bianco, the coach who led the Biancorossi to promotion and who specifically requested the signing of the former Milan and Napoli player, among others.

From a technical standpoint, Petagna’s departure had effectively been in the air for weeks: the Biancorossi’s new coach, Juric, had already identified Patrick Cutrone as his first choice at center forward, relegating the Trieste-born striker to a marginal role within the club’s hierarchy. Juric himself, following the 3-0 victory over Avellino in the Coppa Italia, had effectively signaled his willingness to let him go: “Andrea is a wonderful young man; he’s never missed a practice, and even tonight he showed commitment and determination: whether he stays or goes, I’m certain he’ll have a great season.”

Petagna, for his part, had demonstrated great loyalty to Monza as recently as December 2024, when he extended his contract through June 30, 2027, under the same financial terms, foregoing any potential pay raises. The Brianza-based club welcomed this decision with satisfaction, and it makes the affectionate farewell message to the forward in the official statement all the more meaningful. Now a new challenge awaits him in Tuscany, as Pisa is determined to return to the top flight after just one season in Serie B.
