Inter Transfer Market: The Nerazzurri Are Targeting the Former Juventus Star, but They Still Need to Make a Sale

Unlike its rivals, Inter has practically wrapped up its summer signings, bolstering the roster exactly as Cristian Chivu had requested—he now has at least two players for every position. But as the summer transfer window draws to a close, there could be some surprises in store for the attack, especially if the Nerazzurri manage to offload the surplus player Luis Henrique.

The Brazilian winger could soon leave the Nerazzurri to join Roma: if the deal goes through, Inter could recoup the funds needed to make one final signing for their attack. For some time now, Chivu has been looking for a player with different characteristics than the current forwards on his roster—someone capable of bringing unpredictability to Inter’s attacks and making a decisive impact in one-on-one situations.

It’s no secret that Federico Chiesa has long been on Inter’s radar: the Liverpool forward fits the exact profile of the player the Nerazzurri are looking for. The 2021 European champion is coming off two dismal seasons at Liverpool and is looking to turn things around: the Italian international himself recently opened up to the possibility of returning to Italy—including for the national team—where Roberto Mancini, the coach under whom he performed at his best, has just returned to the bench.

The form of the former Juventus and Fiorentina star needs to be assessed after two difficult years, but Inter could very well make a move if the opportunity arises. At the moment, Chiesa’s market value is less than 10 million euros: a golden opportunity that Marotta could capitalize on. The negotiations with Roma over Luis Henrique are therefore the linchpin of the entire scenario: the Giallorossi are negotiating with Inter on the basis of a loan with an obligation to buy, for a total fee estimated at around 30 million, including a fixed amount and bonuses.
