Napoli Transfer Market: There’s a Line of Suitors for the Bulky Surplus Player

Aurelio De Laurentiis and Giovanni Manna are working to strengthen Massimiliano Allegri’s Napoli squad and trim the roster by letting go of several surplus players. The transfer of Romelu Lukaku to Fenerbahçe has allowed the Neapolitans to save significantly on payroll, and more departures are expected in the coming days.

At the top of the list of departing players is Pasquale Mazzocchi, who fell out of favor under Antonio Conte and was also passed over by Massimiliano Allegri. The player logged just over 400 minutes last season across all competitions, and his contract expires in the summer of 2027: Napoli wants to sell him immediately to avoid losing him on a free transfer and to save on his salary.

In recent days, there has been talk of interest from Cagliari, but the Sardinian club is focused on other priorities, and Mazzocchi is not among the top priorities for Tommaso Giulini’s team. Instead, Hellas Verona, Lecce, Sassuolo, and Frosinone are on the trail of the former Salernitana fullback.

Pasquale Mazzocchi would have preferred to stay in Naples to prove himself and did everything he could to convince Massimiliano Allegri to give him a chance, but he evidently failed, and his departure is now a foregone conclusion. Napoli, meanwhile, has already officially announced the signing of Costantino Favasuli: he will be the future of the Neapolitans’ right flank.
