Inter Transfer News: Deal Done for the Midfielder Chivu Didn’t Need

At Inter—a club that isn’t just making signings but is also working to find new homes for players who don’t fit into Cristian Chivu’s plans—Kristjan Asllani’s transfer to Al Jazira has been finalized. The two clubs had already reached an agreement on Tuesday, with Inter accepting a paid loan deal worth 2 million euros, to which an additional 4.5 million euros may be added for a buyout. The buyout option will become mandatory upon reaching a certain number of appearances.

On Wednesday, an agreement was also reached with the Albanian midfielder, whose name had been persistently linked to Monza in recent days, thus completing the final steps of the deal. Asllani is now set to leave Inter and will fly to Abu Dhabi in the coming hours, where he will join Al Jazira and begin his new adventure.

The departure of the 2002-born player had been in the works for several weeks. As early as the beginning of August, his name had circulated as a possible player exchange in the negotiations with Al-Ittihad for Moussa Diaby, a deal that ultimately took a different turn. Inter’s management had made it clear some time ago that Asllani no longer fit into Chivu’s technical plans, and his departure was also seen as a way to finance potential new signings.

Before Al Jazira made a decisive move, Monza had conducted exploratory talks to gauge the feasibility of a possible loan transfer for the midfielder. The Brianza-based club, grappling with the serious injury to captain Matteo Pessina—who suffered a dislocated patella in his right knee that will sideline him for three or four months—was seeking reinforcements in midfield at the recommendation of head coach Ivan Juric. However, the Emirati club’s entry into the picture quickly changed the dynamics, effectively making it impossible for Monza to compete with the offer from Abu Dhabi.
