Mantua Transfer Market: Two Serie B Teams Vie for Leonardo Mancuso
Leonardo Mancuso’s future is looking increasingly likely to lie outside Mantua. The Biancorossi forward has, in fact, caught the attention of Arezzo and Vicenza, two clubs that are evaluating his profile ahead of the final transfer moves of the window. The two newly promoted teams have gotten off to a strong start in Serie B: the Amaranto won in Avellino, while the Venetians defeated Catanzaro at the Menti Stadium.
Both teams have a perfect record after the first matchday, joining seven other clubs—including Mantua itself, Ascoli, Modena, Padua, Südtirol, Palermo, and Empoli—at the top of the standings. The first matchday, however, held unpleasant surprises for the three teams relegated from Serie A—Cremonese, Pisa, and Verona—all of whom remain stuck at zero points, with Pisa and Verona even suffering defeats on their home turf.
The situation is worth keeping an eye on, especially in these final days of the transfer window, when the interplay between incoming and outgoing players can accelerate negotiations that have so far remained in the background. Mancuso brings experience and reliability to the offense, and it is precisely these qualities that have caught the attention of the two clubs.
This negotiation takes place against the backdrop of a Serie B season that promises to be particularly balanced and fiercely contested. Vicenza, in particular, has shown since the very first matchday that it can compete at the top of the second-tier league, while Arezzo has lived up to the high expectations set before the season by winning on Avellino’s home turf. Both clubs, therefore, are seeking targeted reinforcements to solidify their ambitions in a tournament that will feature highly anticipated matches as early as the second round, such as the Veneto derby between Padova and Verona scheduled for August 29.
Mantova’s transfer market, meanwhile, remains particularly active. The big signing of the summer was Rachid Kouda, who returned to the Biancorossi on loan from Parma following his successful stint last season. This key addition has expanded the team’s options.
The Biancorossi, for their part, head into the final days of the transfer window on the strength of an extraordinary start to the season. Not only did Mantova earn three points in their league opener, but in the preceding weeks they had already pulled off the feat of eliminating Gattuso’s Lazio from the Olimpico in the Coppa Italia, winning 2-0.
