Milan Transfer Market: Ruben Amorim Won’t Cut Any Corners—A Midfield Departure Is Taking Shape
Samuele Ricci’s time at Milan is coming to an end—at least temporarily—after just twelve months. The midfielder, born in 2001, is set to join Como, which—as reported by Sky Sport—has finalized the deal with a 2-million loan fee, an option to buy set at 22, and a 1-million bonus: a deal that could total up to 25 million. Ricci had joined Milan from Torino in the summer of 2025: under Massimiliano Allegri, he made 34 appearances—most often as a substitute—and scored one goal.
With Ruben Amorim taking over as Milan’s head coach, Ricci saw his playing time diminish even during the summer friendlies, slipping down the new coach’s pecking order. Hence his decision to accept Como’s offer, which, among other things, will give him the chance to play in the Champions League under Cesc Fàbregas, who aims to incorporate Italian players into his technical project—partly out of necessity, given UEFA regulations.
Milan, meanwhile, is reshaping its midfield according to the Portuguese coach’s instructions. Amorim has decided to rely on Yunus Musah, Ardon Jashari, and Christian Comotto—three players he considers best suited to the style of soccer he wants to implement. This is a clear choice, confirming that the new Milan is taking shape through decisions that mark a sharp departure from the direction taken just a few months ago.
Born in Pontedera on August 21, 2001, Samuele Ricci came up through the Empoli youth system, the club with which he made his senior debut during the 2019–2020 season in Serie B. He remained with the team for the following two years and helped secure promotion to Serie A in 2020–2021. In January 2022, after half a season in Serie A with the Tuscan “Azzurri,” he moved to Torino, where he established himself to the point of earning a call-up to the national team (11 appearances for the Azzurri). After transferring to Milan in 2025, he effectively served as Modric’s backup and never managed to establish himself.
