Napoli Transfer Market: It’s Not Just Ngonge—Allegri and Manna Send Another Player to Monza

Napoli, led by Massimiliano Allegri, has finalized another outbound transfer—arranged by sporting director Giovanni Manna—and officially announced Michael Folorunsho’s move to Monza. The Roman midfielder is moving to Brianza on a temporary basis through June 30, 2027, with an option to buy in favor of the red-and-white club—the same arrangement already used for the signing of Cyril Ngonge.

Folorunsho, born in Rome on February 7, 1998, came up through Lazio’s youth system before making his professional debut with Virtus Francavilla, where he had two solid seasons in Serie C. His performances earned him a move to Napoli in the summer of 2019, followed by a series of loan stints that helped him develop as a player.

After a first year at Bari, he made his Serie B debut with Reggina in 2020–21, standing out for his consistent performance. He then returned to Serie B the following season, splitting his time between Pordenone and Reggina once again, before enjoying his best season yet in 2022–23 with Bari: 8 goals in 30 appearances and a run to the playoff final—which ended in disappointment for him—against Cagliari.

His move to Serie A came with Hellas Verona, where in the 2023–24 season he established himself as a well-rounded midfielder, helping the team avoid relegation with 34 appearances and 5 goals, including one against Juventus. In June 2024, he became the first Hellas player to make his debut in a European Championship with Italy’s senior national team.

Upon returning to Napoli, he made 6 appearances in the first half of the 2024–25 season before transferring to Fiorentina, where he played 14 Serie A matches and 5 in the Conference League—his first experience in European competition. In the summer of 2025, he moved to Cagliari, where he played a key role in the team’s survival, making 27 appearances and scoring 2 goals.
