Juventus Transfer Market: The Bianconeri Make a 30-Million Move. Who Is Pape Sarr?

Juventus is about to finalize a 30 million euro deal for a midfielder. According to Sky, the Bianconeri have reached an agreement with Tottenham for the transfer of Pape Sarr to Italy.

After the fall-through of Franck Kessié’s signing, the Piedmont-based club has pushed hard for the Senegalese player from the Spurs, identified as a new reinforcement for Luciano Spalletti’s midfield. In addition to a forward, the Tuscan coach has made the arrival of a midfielder a priority, and the Old Lady has decided to take concrete steps to sign the player. The deal will be finalized as a paid loan of 3 million euros, with an obligation to buy for 30 million under certain conditions. The two sides will meet to further define the terms of the buyout, which will most likely be tied to team objectives and the player’s personal goals.

Pape Sarr has long been a favorite of Frederic Massara, who already wanted him when he was an executive at Milan. He is a versatile player who can cover multiple areas of the field and adapts well to playing both as a central midfielder and a wide midfielder. He has played 42 matches for Senegal, winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021. He arrived in Europe in 2020 with Metz and transferred to Tottenham in 2022. With the arrival of Sandro Tonali, the player has been sidelined in London and was not considered indispensable by Roberto De Zerbi.

The urgency to finalize the deal was also fueled by Spalletti’s own statements following the victory over Parma. The Tuscan coach had spoken in no uncertain terms: “Thuram’s injury has been confirmed; we need a player in midfield. The club had arranged an interesting deal (Kessié—ed.), but it fell through. Now we’ll see.”
