Inter Transfer Market, Upheaval at the Club: Piero Ausilio Is Ready to Leave

After 28 years, the relationship between Inter and Piero Ausilio appears to be coming to an end. Signaling the possible end of the long-standing relationship between the Cinisello Balsamo executive and the Nerazzurri club is his contract, which expires in June 2027; no agreement has yet been reached regarding its renewal. According to Sportmediaset, Inter’s current sporting director has been offered a one-year extension under the same financial terms as his current contract. However, this offer reportedly failed to convince Ausilio, who is set to leave the club at the end of the season.

This would bring to a close a journey that began in 1998 and took him through every level of the club’s hierarchy. Ausilio started as secretary of the youth academy and then gradually rose through the ranks of the Nerazzurri organization until he became sporting director of the first team. His career was built primarily through daily hard work, without ever seeking the spotlight.

Having developed professionally under the guidance of Marco Branca, Ausilio officially assumed the role of sporting director in 2014. Since then, he has helped build an Inter team capable of winning 3 Serie A titles, 3 Coppa Italia trophies, and 3 Italian Super Cups, in addition to achieving significant milestones in Europe as well.

But beyond the trophies, his mark on the club’s recent history remains. Ausilio has played a central role in building the Inter team that, in recent years, has established itself as one of the most solid and competitive teams in Serie A. His tenure, spanning nearly three decades, could come to an end at the close of this season if the parties fail to reach an agreement.
