The third matchday of the 2026-2027 Serie A season kicks off Friday evening at 8:45 p.m., with Genoa hosting Como at the “Luigi Ferraris” Stadium. The Rossoblù are looking not only for their first points but also for their first goal of the new season, while Como aims to build on the strong performance they showed in Naples during their third consecutive road game to start the season. Marco Guida of the Torre Annunziata Referees’ Association will officiate the match.

Genoa, coached by Daniele De Rossi, lost 2-0 at home to Napoli on the first matchday (a game marked by protests over the first of the two goals, which, according to the Rossoblù, was marred by an irregularity), and then suffered a 1-0 defeat at the Olimpico against Lazio. Their only win of the season came in the Coppa Italia against Ascoli, the day after Ferragosto: on that occasion, Elias Havel also scored the Rossoblù’s last official goal, sealing the 4-1 final score.

Cesc Fabregas’s ambitious Como team is preparing to make its all-time Champions League debut, next Thursday at the renovated “Sinigaglia” stadium against Leipzig, but they cannot underestimate the match against the Grifone, especially in light of what happened on opening day, when the unexpected 1-1 draw in Udine exposed some cracks in the Catalan coach’s system. Things went much better in Naples, however: goals by Baturina and Douvikas (who was preferred today over newcomer Moise Kean) gave Como its first win of the season.

Probable Lineups

GENOA (3-5-2): Bijlow; Marcandalli, Ostigard, Vasquez; Sabelli, Baldanzi, Frendrup, Sow, Ellertsson; Osmajic, Colombo. Coach: De Rossi.

COMO (4-2-3-1): Butez; Couto, Ramon, Chalobah, Valle; Perrone, Da Cunha; Diao, Nico Paz, Baturina; Douvikas. Coach: Fabregas.
