Juventus vs. Milan: Ruud Gullit Doesn’t Mince Words: “A Disaster”

The match between Juventus and Milan has recently been characterized by few goals and little excitement: in their last six meetings, a 0-0 draw has been the most common result, occurring four times; the other results include a 2-0 win for the Bianconeri on January 18, 2025, and a 2-1 victory for the Rossoneri in the Coppa Italia on January 3, 2025.

In an interview with *La Gazzetta dello Sport*, Ruud Gullit didn’t mince words: “Last year I watched Milan vs. Juve at San Siro—it was a disaster. Zero goals, zero excitement. On paper, it was supposed to be a big match, but instead… I hope something changes this time.”

“It’s hard to say who’s stronger between Juventus and Milan after just two games. Spalletti is good, while Milan has signed Amorim and is banking on a mix of young and experienced players. A team that makes so many changes always needs time, and this Milan side needs to work to regain its confidence.”

The Rossoneri legend then analyzed Milan’s transfer activity: “I like Gonçalo Ramos, but you can’t expect a single striker to solve all the problems. How many passes does he get? How do the others play—the ones who should be setting him up in the penalty area? Ramos deserves trust, but he needs to be supported by the rest of the team. It was the right move to let Leao go; he had one great game out of every ten. Top-tier players are a different breed, and his love affair with Milan was over.”

On the other side of the Naviglio is Inter, which has come close to European glory twice in recent years: “Disappointments happen, but Lautaro and his teammates know how to go all the way. In general, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid remain a step ahead. Mourinho’s return to Spain and to a top club intrigues me; I hope he does well. And let me tell you: keep an eye on Manchester City, too, even if they aren’t starting out as front-runners this year.”
